V-E Polka Book
The original creators of the V-E Polka Book described it as containing “16 snappy polkas arranged in dance tempo, suitable for band and orchestra combinations.” So true! But this folio series also is unique for several reasons:
1. It’s nothing but polkas. No waltzes, schottisches or other dance styles.
2. This folio has substantial content from both of our named principals. Initial founder Louis Vitak arranged many of the tunes. His nephew and successor, Joseph P. Elsnic, compiled the songs for the folio. Considering the hundreds of potential selections in our entire catalog, the 16 songs hand-picked by the company namesake makes a statement about the unique nature of these songs.
3. Most of the songs in this folio are not available in any other current format, and many of them are quite old. Some reflect earlier arrangements for brass band in the 1910s and 1920s by the Georgi and Vitak Music Company, the predecessor to the Vitak-Elsnic Company.
