The music in our Czech Collection is diverse, encompassing traditional tunes from or in the style of Bohemia, now part of the Czech Republic. Most of the songs were published by the Vitak-Elsnic Company or its predecessor, the Georgi and Vitak Music Company for piano solo or for small band and orchestra. However, several of the songs are from previously unpublished manuscripts recently discovered in old Vitak-Elsnic business files, as well as arrangements of traditional music played for decades by Czech-American bands in North America. Some of the songs were composed in America by Bohemian immigrants. This collection includes only polkas (or marches) in 2/4 time and waltzes (or laendler or mazurka) in 3/4 time.
This collection contains arrangements for small ensembles of brass or string instruments. Each arrangement includes a full score as well as individual instrumentation, so is appropriate in a variety of club, educational, and dance settings. We can customize any of these selections to fit your particular instrumentation.
