The Ernie Broeniman Collection – No man or woman has done more to bring traditional “old time” music to the present and future generations than Ernie Broeniman, founder and artistic director of Wisconsin’s famed Dorf Kapelle band. Ernie has applied his decades of experience to create fresh arrangements for concert bands and full orchestras of a number of Vitak-Elsnic classics and some you may not have heard before.

We have the world’s largest collection of traditional old-time music – polkas, waltzes, schottisches – arranged for concert band. Each chart is sold as an entire complete unit with all instrumentation and full score.
Instrumentation for each arrangement may vary slightly (check the product description for complete details), but most individual charts include the following instrumentation: flute; oboe; bassoon; clarinet 1, 2 3; alto sax 1 , 2; tenor sax/baritone TC; baritone sax; trumpet 1, 2, 3; F horn 1, 2; trombone 1, 2, 3; baritone/euphonium BC; bass; drums.

In collaboration with Canadian composer and arranger Sean Breen, Ernie Broeniman has scored our first charts for full orchestra! Each chart is sold as an entire complete unit with all instrumentation and full score.

Some of the earliest publications by Vitak-Elsnic were arrangements for “brass band.” These arrangements were published over a decade from our company’s founding in 1912. Although these arrangements had full instrumentation, the emphasis was by definition on the brass. This instrumentation lent itself naturally to arrangements of marches.
After we rediscovered these old arrangements in our archives, we carefully selected 15 unique marches. All of the selected marches were either composed by or arranged by Vitak-Elsnic founder Louis Vitak or by Frantisek Kmoch, the Czech John Phillips Sousa. We changed the instrumentation and style of arrangements to provide optimum performance opportunities within the skill set of most musicians. These beautiful old marches have been made new again!
Carefully arranged by Vitak-Elsnic and MPA President Steve Harris, the instrumentation for each arrangement includes the following: piccolo, flute; clarinet 1 & 2; alto sax; tenor sax/baritone TC; cornet 1 & 2; F horn 1 & 2; trombone 1 & 2; euphonium; tuba; drum set.
